About the Author
Otto Friedrich Bollnow (1903-1991) was an influential figure of the human science movement in education in Germany whose work can be placed within and between the fields of existentialism and phenomenology. He is the author of 38 books and over 300 articles, almost none of which have been translated into English.

Pivotal Work for the Philosophy of Space

This book is a milestone for the spatial turn in the humanities, especially philosophy. Like Bachelard's The Poetics of Space (a work Bollnow refers to), this work provides a phenomenologically-oriented discussions of our interrelation with space. It is a very readable translation, and gives English readers access to an important work on space and place.
