About the Author
Dr. Nahikian-Nelms is currently a professor of clinical health and rehabilitation sciences and director of the dietetic internship in the Division of Medical Dietetics at The Ohio State University. At Ohio State, she also serves as nutrition faculty for the LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) program and the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. She has practiced as a dietitian and public health nutritionist for over 25 years. She is the lead author for the textbooks: _Nutrition Therapy and Pathophysiology_; _Medical Nutrition Therapy: A Case Study Approach_; and _Food and Culture_. Additionally, she has contributed to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Manual for the sections on gastrointestinal disorders and is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and chapters for other texts. Her clinical expertise focuses on development and practice of evidence-based nutrition therapy for a variety of conditions including diabetes, gastrointestinal disease, and hematology/oncology for both pediatrics and adult populations, as well as the development of alternative teaching environments for students within their clinical training. Recently, her scholarly work has focused on the use and development of simulation activities as a component of the dietetic curriculum. Dr. Nahikian-Nelms has received the Governor's Award for Outstanding Teaching for the State of Missouri, Outstanding Dietetic Educator in Missouri and Ohio, and the PRIDE award from Southeast Missouri State University in recognition of her teaching. Dr. Nahikian-Nelms has previously served in her district and state dietetic associations as well as on the ACEND board and as a program reviewer.

SARA LONG ROTH, PhD, RD, is Professor in the Department of Animal Science, Food and Nutrition and Director, Didactic Program in Dietetics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Prior to obtaining her PhD in health education, she practiced as a clinical dietitian for 11 years. Her specialty areas are medical nutrition therapy, nutrition education, and food and nutrition assessment. She is an active leader in national, state, and district dietetic association's where she has served in numerous elected and appointed positions, including the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education, and Commission on Dietetic Registration. Dr. Long is coauthor of Understanding Nutrition Therapy and Pathophysiology, Medical Nutrition Therapy: A Case Study Approach, Foundations and Clinical Applications of Nutrition: A Nursing Approach, and Essentials of Nutrition and Diet Therapy. Dr. Long has received various awards and honors for teaching, including Outstanding Dietetic Educator (ADA) and Outstanding Educator for the College of Agricultural Sciences.

EXTREMLY WELL DONE BOOK

this book was the one i read first from the give yourself goosebumps series - and i loved it!!
In ordinary books you can follow the plot by simply turning over the pages - but in this book you decide by yourself how the plot developes. If you make wrong decision you'll get into trouble.
you and your friends visit a carnival full of games and rides, when you suddenly recognize that it's doomed: you have to get out until midnight or you'll be trapped there 4ever!! Your first task is to decide whether you play games (if you win 3 games and an ultimate challenge against the cranival manager you'll get free) or to try to escape by using the rides.
it makes pretty much fun to read the different ways to go. and i cant understand anyone saying that this book is commercial...???!!! the story gets never boring, on none of the 140 pages. there are 2 older goosebumps books mentioned in this book, but who cares, it doesn't disturb the excellent story.
if you like goosebumps and give yourself goosebumps i really recommend this book to you. it isn't scary in deed, but that doesnt matter - it's pretty exciting and very funny to read!!

WOW!!!! R.L. Stine is at his best! Sure, the old books were great,
but now, you get to choose you're own story! This is sure to be a
prosperous new series! Also, if you've read a lot of the books
from the regular series, then you'll know the right choices to make
on some of the decisions. Well, goodbye now, and good luck
in The Carnival of Horrors! (You'll need it!!!!!

Can you escape?

This is a great book. I stayed up late trying to read all the endings. They're all sooooo cool! This also features some familiar Goosebumps characters & other scary things. These include: Slappy the Dummy, Monster Blood, and many things from Horrorland. So, what are you waiting for?! Pick up the book and try to escape the Carnival of Horrors (in one piece that is).

Stay away from this book or any class that requires it.

This is by far the worst text book ever written. I am sorry to say that, rarely do I give bad reviews but this is necassary. If you are a beginner at Microprocessors and/or Assembly language then you will find this book completely worthless. The author assumes that you already know the material and just gives tons of examples, all just a few sentences long and with NO explanation to how they work. If you are looking at a syllabus that requires this textbook as its primary instruction aid then I suggest that you wait for the class to change books or be prepared to buy a supplementary text book and find online information.

About the Author

Jonathan Samuels (also known by the name Sherab Gyatso) spent 20 years as a monk, living in Tibetan communities in Asia. He is one of a handful of foreigners to have been awarded the title Geshe, having completed a full course of traditional academic studies in Tibetan monastic institutions. He has many years experience teaching Tibetan, and has both designed and taught training courses for translators and interpreters. Jonathan Samuels holds a Masters degree from the Oriental Institute of the University of Oxford, and is currently completing his PhD with the same institution. He currently holds the position of Research Fellow (Buddhist Studies) at the Cluster of Excellence "Asia and Europe in a Global Context" at Heidelberg University.

Excellent Primer for Learning Spoken and Written Tibetan

Having studied a variety of Tibetan language courses, the thoroughness and logical progression of this book make it stand out as the best written tutorial I've seen to assist with mastering the complexities of Tibetan grammar, pronunciation and sentence structure. The short segments introduce new material with excellent written exercises at the end of each for reinforcement. This book is a welcome aid to anyone seeking to gain a working knowledge of Tibetan.

It's NOT an easy course, it's for the ones who are determined ...

I have tried many times in the past to learn Tibetan by using books and cds but after a while it became too complicated and I gave up. However, after using the "Colloquial Tibetan" course for a few weeks I realised my spoken Tibetan had improved and so had my comprehension and my vocabulary! It's NOT an easy course, it's for the ones who are determined to learn the language properly at any cost!

Best Tibetan self study method on the planet!

The book itself is fantastic. It is particularly good for students focusing on self study, because it is unique in that it uses a method which allows you to learn easily without the help of a physical teacher. There are many books on Tibetan language which are thorough, but many use grammar jargon that makes learning difficult for those of us who are not language scholars. This book avoids confusing readers with jargon, it keeps explanations very simple, pragmatic, and effective. We used the complementary audio which is very very good, and essential for truly taking advantage of this jewel of a textbook. Overall, I'd say this is the best self study learning method for Tibetan (compared to all the books available in Dharamsala, as well as MST by N. Tournadre, which is great but really overwhelming and jargony).

Having said that, the kindle edition we bought in late 2014 has serious flaws with the Tibetan script. The book text is zoomable of course but the Tibetan script was obviously scanned and is not zoomable (without serious pixelation), so it is very small and in some parts difficult to read especially with stacks (superscript plus subscript). Now it seems they may have improved the kindle version because it says "optimized for large screens." No doubt they realized this and fixed it. But i would make sure this has indeed be fixed before purchasing. Otherwise the print version is great, i've seen it and it is very well made.

Overall a fantastic book! The best! Don't miss out on the audio CDs/mp3s!!

About the Author
Mung Chiang is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University and Director of the Princeton EDGE Lab. He has received the IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award and a US Presidential Award for Scientists and Engineers, for his research on networking. A co-founder and advisor to several startups, he also received a Technology Review TR35 Award for his contributions to network technology innovation and is a Fellow of the IEEE.

Does Google rule the world?

In his new book Networked Life, award-winning Princeton professor of Electrical Engineering Mung Chiang gives 20 questions and answers about how Google, Amazon, Facebook, Netflix, YouTube, Twitter and many other networks shape and control our everyday life.

I came to know about the book through Coursera, where Mung Chiang's course Networks: Friends, Money, and Bytes caught my eye. I was especially intrigued by the question: How does Google rank webpages? Like so many others I was worried that Google's dominant position on the Internet, could one day lead to thought control and censorship of everything that was not in their interest. After reading Networked Life this fear has been put to rest.

I got a lot more than I bargained for. Networked life is not just about Google. It's about every major player on the internet, how they have evolved with a strong emphasis on how they did it. Each chapter or question is constructed using the same easy to follow template: The question is asked, the relevancy is explored, the answer is provided in short form, then in greater detail showing what really is done and how you could do the same.

Despite the complexity of the subject, Networked Life is an astonishingly easy and well written read. Even when Mung dives head first into complicated mathematical modeling to explain what is going on, his line of thought is easy to understand.

An equally good read for the casual reader that would like to understand the world we live in a little better and for the advanced reader that would like to understand exactly how big networks do it.

Networked Life will deepen your knowledge about the many successful networks of this world and maybe help you invent the next Google.

A whirlwind tour through the many aspects network theory.

A whirlwind tour through the many aspects network theory. That is not to say the book lacks depth; quite the opposite. No mathematical details are omitted, however "short answer" sections allow the more casual read to survey the information.
