Recommended with reservations to the chapters about blogging at Linkedin.

Stephanie Sammons' book " Linked to Influence: 7 Powerful Rules for Becoming a Top Influencer in Your Market and Attracting Your Ideal Clients on LinkedIn" is an good book but it has one flaw.
The author does not dictate,
"... These rules are meant to serve as strategic guideposts for you to follow..."
but encourages the reader to create his/her own Linkedin-portrait/presentation,
"... Think about the people who have influenced you. Why do you follow them? What have they done for you? How have they impacted your life?..."
I appreciated that a lot because too many authors try to suggest to-force a one-size-fits-all system, when clearly, in times like ours there is no one-size-fits-all solution to anything.
Sammons points to the essence and does NOT suggest that creating that profile is easy.
"... Building your personal influence on LinkedIn (and online in general) is a process. It doesn’t happen overnight—it accumulates over time..."
Again, this is a huge plus in my world. I am so sick and tired of books which suggest that anything is easy. Quite to the contrary, because, today the whole world is participating and competing, every career step and the presentation thereof need to be thought through carefully. This is where Sammons' book shines. Step by steps she walks the reader through the process.
Now, here is the flaw:
I do not agree with with the author about the topic of blogging at Linkedin. I post the same blogs on my own blog (with blogger) and on Linkedin. For every 50 hits on Linkedin I get 500 on Blogger.
Of course, my observations are merely the one of a blogger, who watches her own data. However, in light of Mr. Itai Leshem's revelations about blogging stats at Linkedin I must wonder why author Stephanie Simmons, who by her own account is a Linkedin expert, did not know this.

Beginner or Expert: Master LinkedIn from Where You Are

I work with small businesses that may not yet be ready to commit to blogging, and that also understand Facebook is a slippery slope. Therefore, we recommend LinkedIn to get started sharing great content and engaging with their audience online.
Of course, they have lots of questions and need guidance and encouragement for making the most of LinkedIn. Now they can get that and more from Linked to Influence.
Let’s face it, there is a lot going on with LinkedIn. That’s why I’m pleased to now have this resource to recommend to my clients. It has a logical beginning, middle and end, so if you follow and implement all of the steps, there will be no stone left unturned.
As Stephanie says in the introduction, “You can leapfrog your competitors by applying what you learn in this book.”

A Must Read for LinkedIn Users Who Want to Expand Their Reach and Increase Their Influence

This book exceeded my expectations in every single way. I've been using LinkedIn for several years and always suspected that I wasn't using it effectively. I've read two other books that helped me improve but only incrementally. I have so much highlighting and flags sticking out on the pages that my copy looks like a bluebird rather than a book! I love that Stephanie included a link to a related workbook because that will help provide the reinforcement to implement many of her recommendations.
